Credit to NomadicIT for putting AI's water problem in plain terms — servers run hot, cooling systems need water, and that water has to come from somewhere. The video keeps things high-level, but that's exactly the gap we try to fill: somewhere is never an abstraction, it's a specific county, a specific aquifer, a specific utility board that said yes.

Every gallon a data center pulls for cooling is a gallon not going to farms, wells, or municipal supply, and in drought-prone parts of the Southwest and Southeast, that tradeoff isn't hypothetical — it's already showing up in permit fights and rate cases. The uncomfortable part is how little the public actually gets to see before these deals close.
