Credit to the DeSotoKansas channel for keeping these Mayor's Minute recaps short and watchable, because most residents will never sit through a full council meeting. But read between the lines of this one: a noise ordinance consultant search, a water and sewer budget deep-dive, and a promise to address "comments and frequently asked questions" from a recent Calls to Public session all point the same direction. Somebody in De Soto is asking hard questions about a data center, and the city is scrambling to get its story straight before the next meeting.

That's the pattern we track everywhere this buildout lands — noise complaints from turbine-like cooling systems, wells and sewer capacity suddenly needing budget attention, and rezoning items like Arbor Ridge that reshape what a town looks like for decades. None of that is scandalous by itself. What matters is whether the public actually gets real answers before permits and rate structures are locked in, not after.
