This is a vendor reel from PeaSoup Cloud showing servers dunked in liquid coolant instead of chilled by fans and outside air. Immersion cooling is real tech with real upside — it can cut the electricity a facility burns just moving air around, and in theory it reduces the need for evaporative cooling systems that guzzle municipal water. Worth watching for the visual alone: racks submerged in tanks of dielectric fluid look nothing like the beige server rooms most people picture.
But a slick product demo isn't an environmental audit. Immersion cooling shrinks one line item — cooling load — while the bigger numbers that communities actually feel, total electricity draw, land parceled off for new campuses, tax abatements handed out to lure the builder, stay exactly where they were. Efficiency gains have a habit of getting reinvested into packing more compute into the same footprint rather than shrinking the ask on the local grid. And 'less water' claims deserve scrutiny on a site-by-site basis, not a marketing clip, since plenty of immersion setups still need water somewhere in the loop for heat rejection.
