That's the real story buried under the AI hype — a hyperscaler reshaping a region's entire energy infrastructure to run its servers, in a parish that was sold the deal as an economic revival play.
Worth asking who actually signed off on 10 new fossil-fuel plants for a private company's AI bet, and what ratepayers in a low-income corner of Louisiana are on the hook for if the compute demand doesn't pan out the way Zuckerberg's pitch promised. Private capital financed the buildout, but the gas plants, the transmission lines, and the local water and land use decisions don't stay private — they become the region's problem for decades.
