Data centers being blamed for water issues

Credit to 11Alive for putting a face — and a beaker of brown water — on what a lot of communities near data center campuses are quietly living with. When a member of Congress holds up a jar of discolored tap water on camera, it's a signal that local complaints about water quality have stopped being a local story and started being a national one.
This is the pattern we keep tracking: massive facilities get sited, permitted, and powered up with promises about jobs and tax revenue, while the strain on local water systems and infrastructure gets litigated after the fact, in public, with residents holding the evidence. Morgan County didn't get a say in becoming a test case — it just got the water.
