12 Authorization to accept the BJA FY25 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance

13 Authorization to submit a grant application to Georgia Transportation Infrastructure
. Bank, in the amount of $1,800,000.00 in connection with Hwy 5 @ Mason Creek

14 Approval of an agreement with Southern Optimized Security Systems, LLC for fire
. alarm system monitoring services at the DOT Maintenance Facility in the yearly

20 Approval of a renewal Clinical Agreement with the City of Smyrna Fire Department
. to provide instruction and practice to trainees as a part of the Emergency Medical

21 Approval of a Mutual Aid Agreement with Paulding County Fire Rescue to provide
. firefighting equipment and/or manpower on request and as available for fire

ANNOUNCEMENTS
District 1 Commissioner Henry Mitchell III continues his efforts to raise awareness
about prostate cancer in commemoration of National Prostate Cancer Awareness
Month, an observance dedicated to increasing public knowledge of the most common

non–skin cancer in American men and the second leading cause of cancer-related
death among men. He will share important information and updates as part of his Blue
Legacy Campaign each week leading up to the national observance in September. The
Blue Legacy Campaign is designed to create a legacy of awareness, prevention, and
hope for future generations.
Commissioner Henry Mitchell III will host “Data Centers and Douglas County:
Separating Fact from Fiction” on Wednesday, August 26, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in
Citizens Hall. The Town Hall will feature a moderated panel discussion with subject
matter experts from a variety of disciplines, including power grid infrastructure, water
resources, economic development, AI and data infrastructure, and county planning.
Participants will have the opportunity to hear from experts, ask questions, and engage
in a conversation regarding technology infrastructure, economic development, utilities,

September Saturdays is back! The family-friendly event will return with two weekends
of community celebration and family fun. The first weekend will take place on
September 19th from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Boundary Waters Park, where families can
enjoy carnival rides, a pumpkin patch, line dancing, hayrides, and much more. The
festivities will continue Saturday, September 26th from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the
Douglas County Courthouse, where families can listen to live music, enjoy carnival
rides, browse retail vendors, and experience a full lineup of family-friendly activities.

--Deer Lick Park will host its first Pickleball Ladder League at the PADL Pickle at Deer
Lick Courts beginning Tuesday, September 8. League play will take place from 5:30
p.m. to 7:30 p.m. each week for five weeks. All ages and skill levels are eligible to
participate. Players will be grouped by comparable skill levels. For additional

--Voices of Heritage: Together We Are More is an upcoming art exhibit celebrating
Hispanic heritage, which will be displayed in the Courthouse Art Gallery on the 3rd
floor. The exhibit will be open from September 14 through October 30, 2026, inviting
visitors to explore a beautiful collection of artwork. We also welcome you to join us on
September 15 at 6 p.m. for an artist meet-and-greet, an opportunity to connect, reflect,
and honor this meaningful celebration together. The exhibit is free and open to the
public, and we hope to see you there!
--We are excited to invite community groups, schools, clubs, nonprofits, businesses, and
organizations to participate in the 2026 Veterans Day Parade on November 7th! The
parade is a special opportunity to honor and celebrate the bravery, service, and
sacrifice of our veterans. We welcome walking units, decorated vehicles, military
groups, civic organizations, performance groups, and anyone who wishes to show
appreciation and support for those who have served our country. Participation is
completely free, and we encourage both new and returning groups to join us in making
