Waterloo Township Planning Commission
Meeting Minutes August 18, 2026
Meeting Called to Order at 7:01 PM
Pledge of Allegiance
Roll Call: R. Schumacher, C. Richardson, J. Beck, M. Zweifler and B. Steere: All
present.
Acceptance of August 18, 2026 meeting agenda: Moved by R. Schumacher,
supported by C. Richardson to accept agenda as presented. Motion Carried.
Public Comment: Received notification that Grass Lake Township has a Proposed Master Plan
for review.
Acceptance of July 21, 2026 Planning Commission Meeting Minutes: Moved by
J. Beck, supported by M. Zweifler to accept minutes as presented.
Motion carried.
1. Public Hearing on Text Amendment for Article 11.11-Kennels. B. Steere closed the
Regular meeting and opened the Public Hearing at 7:06pm.

Discussed the proposed changes and informed Kennel Applicants (Randell and Moir) of
the approval steps and process.

B. Steere closed the Public Meeting at 7:11 pm and reopened the Regular Meeting.

Moved by R. Schumacher, supported by C. Richardson to recommend that the Township
Board approve the Text Changes to Sections 11.11 A1 and 11.11 A3 based on checking
with other Townships having no 300 foot parcel width requirements. Motion Carried. M.
Zweifler Opposed.
2. Amrize Permit Renewal: B. Richardson gave an update on closure issues between
Amrize and the DNR. The Township plans to renew the Special Use Permit for 1
year for reclamation only.
3. Home Occupation Section 20.8: Discussed Class 1 and Class 2 Proposed Text.
Some additional changes will be made to the Proposed Text. as well as Table 9-2.
4. Discussed the need for the Township to review The Township Parcel Split
Ordinance.

5. New colors on the Township Zoning Map were viewed and are more distinct.
6. Data Center Ordinance: The Committee gave an update on a draft ordinance
prepared by B. Richardson with inputs from B. Steere. Next meeting is on August 27,
2026.
7. Discussed the need for a future Land Use Map for the Township

Adjournment: Moved by R. Schumacher, supported by C. Richardson to adjourn at 9:00 PM.
