5.I. Recycling Bins Coming Soon
Upwards of 9,000 residents will receive new recycling bins prior to the new Priority
Waste contract beginning April 1, 2026. Delivery will be concluded by Tuesday, March
31, 2026. Residents receiving the new bins are new recycling customers. Universal
recycling provides all customers with full-service each week at the curb for one low
price, helping to keep the community clean and sustainable with a focus on value and

5.II. Office Closing - April 3, 2026
Township offices and the Library will be closed on Friday, April 3, 2026, reopening on
Monday, April 6, 2026. Emergency services will be available.

5.III. Boater Safety Class Announcement
Get ready for boating this summer by taking a Boater Safety Class! The main
purpose of the boater safety education course is to train knowledgeable, safe, and
responsible boaters. Three classes will be offered at Waterford Township’s Regional
Fire Station 1, located at 2495 Crescent Lake Road. Class dates are March 28th,
April 11th, and May 9th from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. A boater's safety certificate
will be awarded after successfully passing a test, which is required by law for anyone
born after June 30, 1996. In addition, boater education is required for all Personal
Watercraft operators born after December 31, 1978. Only 30 spots per class, so sign
up today! Use the QR code on the screen or go to WWW.MI.GOV/DNR to sign up.

5.IV. 11th Annual Earth Day Township Cleanup Event
Volunteers are needed for the 11th annual Earth Day Township cleanup event on
Saturday, April 25th. Join volunteers as we hit the streets and parks in our community
to help clean up litter from roadsides and common areas. Be part of a great event
that immediately and positively impacts the community! This is an excellent volunteer
opportunity for groups and individuals looking to make a difference in the Waterford

5.V. Friends Of The Waterford Township Public Library 8th Annual 5K Run/Walk
Announcement
Come one, come all to the 8th annual Friends of the Waterford Library 5K fun run/walk
on Saturday, April 25th. The run begins at 10:00 a.m. with registration starting at
9:00 a.m. The race takes place at the Warming House on the Civic Center Campus
with the Fun Run/Walk around the pond. Other activities include an online auction
and fun activities for the whole family. For more information, as well as the link to

Book It Character! The Library race kicks off the new Waterford Race Series

5.VI. "I Voted" Sticker Contest
The Michigan Department of State is excited to be bringing back the "I Voted" sticker
contest for all Michiganders to get involved and get excited about the Midterm
Election! The "I Voted" sticker contest will accept submissions from now until Friday,
May 1, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. The public voting period will be open through the month of

2026 Waterford Township Memorial Day Parade – Participant Announcement. The
Pontiac Waterford Elks Lodge #810 is honored to once again plan and host Waterford
Township’s Memorial Day Parade. Signup is now open for the groups that

participate in the annual Memorial Day parade. Get signed up early to secure
your spot. The deadline is Tuesday, May 5, 2026.
If your group would like to participate, please use the QR code on the flyer to
access the online application and sign up to march. We look forward to
bringing the community together in remembrance, gratitude, and pride. For

This cherished community tradition will take place at 10:00 AM on Memorial Day,
marching along Dixie Highway from Sashabaw Road to Williams Lake Road. We
invite community groups, schools, organizations, businesses, veteran groups, clubs,
and local performers to join us in honoring the men and women who gave their lives in
service to our country.
