(ii)
Term: Appointments to fill mid-term vacancies will be for the remainder of that term.
(iii)
Other restrictions:
Planning Commission: No more than two (2) Commissioners may be principally involved, as
individuals, members or partners, in the buying, selling or development of real estate for profit.
No two (2) members shall be involved in the same kind of business or profession.

the City of Brookings, non-city residents must live in the Urban Growth Boundary and have an
economic interest, such as business ownership within the City.
PART III Background Information:
1. List your related experience and/or background to the position you are applying for:*
I have previously served on the Brookings Tourism Promotion Advisory Committee and possess firsthand knowledge of its purpose,
structure, and operational context. I have been a resident of Brookings since August 2014 and have maintained active involvement in
the local business community through ownership of hospitality establishments affected by visitor seasonality. My tenure with the local
electric cooperative has provided experience in community engagement and regional economic dynamics. Through both roles, I have
developed a practical understanding of visitor trends, the needs of local businesses, and the broader economic impact that a
sustained tourism investment can have on the Brookings community.
2. List any unrelated work history, education background, and volunteer experience you may have:*
I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications and Political Science. My professional background spans nearly three decades in
hospitality and customer service, including retail and restaurant work, which has given me a ground-level understanding of what
visitors expect and what keeps them coming back. I have volunteered in the Brookings community, including consistent involvement
with local schools and Little League.
5
3. Briefly describe your interest in this position and what you hope to accomplish:*
Having served on the Tourism Promotion Advisory Committee in a prior iteration, I approach this application with both relevant
experience and a genuine sense of unfinished business. The committee did not achieve the outcomes its members had envisioned,
and I believe that was attributable in large part to procedural obstacles rather than any absence of commitment or capable ideas. The
renewed structure and clearer direction represent an opportunity to build something more effective, and I am motivated to contribute to
that effort. As a Brookings business owner with a direct stake in visitor activity, particularly during the shoulder season, I have practical
motivation to see this committee succeed. It is my intention to help ensure that Transient Lodging Tax revenues are directed
purposefully and effectively toward the promotion of Brookings as a destination, with particular focus on extending visitor engagement
into the off-season months.
PART IV Volunteer Agreement:
Please read and check off the following before signing:*
I acknowledge that I will not be under the direct supervision and control of the City in connection with the voluntary services
for which I have applied.
I acknowledge that I will receive no compensation or expense reimbursement from the City in connection with any volunteer

I understand that if the position I applied for requires me to be an elector of the City of Brookings, that the City has permission
to verify my status as a registered voter.
I agree to release the City from all matters relating to the voluntary service for which I have applied, including compliance, if
any is required, with social security, withholdings, insurance and all other regulations and reportings governing such matters. I
assume full responsibility for any injuries or damages suffered by or arising from the voluntary service described herein.
(Planning Commission applicants, see ** below)
I agree to release, indemnify and hold the City harmless from and against any and all actions, causes of action, claims,
demands, liabilities, losses, damages or expenses, of whatsoever kind and nature, including attorney fees, which City may

PART III Background Information:
1. List your related experience and/or background to the position you are applying for:*
I hold a B.A. in recreation, parks, and tourism administration from California State University, Sacramento, with an emphasis on
commercial and community programming. As a Senior Communications Specialist for Coos-Curry Electric Cooperative, I develop
multi-channel marketing strategies targeting diverse regional audiences through deep demographic analysis. This allows me to craft
targeted messaging that resonates with specific audience segments and drives engagement. I actively cultivate partnerships to amplify
impact and reach.
Having recently been elected as a Port Commissioner for the Port of Brookings Harbor, I am positioned to see the port's untapped
potential as a regional tourism catalyst. I understand that attracting diverse tourists: families, adventure seekers, cultural travelers,
outdoor enthusiasts require strategic partnerships across local businesses, tourism organizations, and community stakeholders. I am
particularly passionate about highlighting our vibrant seafood industry and quality lodging options as distinctive tourism assets also.
8
2. List any unrelated work history, education background, and volunteer experience you may have:*
I served as a Recreation Program Coordinator, where I developed comprehensive community programs and established formal
partnerships with diverse stakeholders, growing participation significantly while strengthening community capacity. I am currently
Board President of the Coos-Curry Electric Charitable Foundation, where I develop programs that support local opportunities and write
grants to fund initiatives that empower community members and build capacity throughout our region. I have been a resident of
Brookings for ten years with deep community connections throughout the region.
3. Briefly describe your interest in this position and what you hope to accomplish:*
I am genuinely invested in advancing our community's economic prosperity. I believe strategic tourism marketing can be a powerful
tool to grow Brookings' economy and strengthen our entire region. My vision is to position Brookings as a premier destination that
attracts diverse tourist demographics—families, adventure seekers, cultural travelers, outdoor enthusiasts—and maximizes visitor
spending across our community.
Our region has remarkable assets: our vibrant seafood industry and maritime heritage, quality accommodations that enable extended
stays, outdoor recreation opportunities, and authentic community character. I want to ensure these assets are strategically marketed to
reach audiences most likely to visit. Through targeted demographic analysis and partnership-building across local businesses, lodging
providers, tourism organizations, and community stakeholders, we can create a cohesive tourism strategy that drives economic
growth.
I am committed to bringing strategic vision, data-driven marketing expertise, and partnership-building leadership to the Tourism
Promotion Advisory Committee. I will help identify market opportunities, develop targeted marketing initiatives for specific audience
segments, build coalitions across all tourism stakeholders, and ensure TOT resources are deployed strategically to maximize regional
economic impact and benefit our community broadly.

1. List your related experience and/or background to the position you are applying for:*
As a cafe owner I enthusiastically play tour guide every single day. I am passionate about sharing our area with our visitors. Not only
do I love learning about our area and sharing it with tourists, but I believe every single one of us permanent residents should
appreciate and feel awe for this place just as much. I love to write and take pictures and have dabbled in a bit of photojournalism in
order to promote my business and the beautiful area that surrounds us.
In addition to that, I am well traveled and have lived in a lot of different places throughout my lifetime. Exposure to other ideas and
ways of doing things can help inject fresh perspective.
As a mom of four who became the queen of creating travel itineraries for our family for years, I feel I could bring the family perspective
for potential tourists. Guys, I am bursting with ideas!
12
2. List any unrelated work history, education background, and volunteer experience you may have:*
Before owning a restaurant, I enjoyed a 25+ year career in the IT industry, managing computers, networks, data centers and cloud
farms. I love to travel, write, hike, camp, cook, bake, learn and do photography.
My team and I have volunteered at the Azalea lights twice now and have loved it! We volunteer with the Wild Rivers Film Festival as a
venue for their art walk screenings and have some very tourist-centric things planned for our cafe in the near future.
3. Briefly describe your interest in this position and what you hope to accomplish:*
As I stated before, I am bursting with ideas! I am a business owner, yes. But that's not what brought me to Brookings. I moved to
Brookings for the trees, the fresh air, the river, the ocean, the nearby Redwoods. On my days off, I am absolutely out there enjoying it
and I believe in sharing it! I see many things that could be improved upon while preserving the quiet beauty of our town and would love
a chance to discuss and collaborate with my fellow residents. I am already a champion for Brookings, so being on a productive team
with like-minded individuals and financial backing from the city and state? We could do some amazing things together!
