Credit to MEP Academy for a genuinely clear walkthrough of the plumbing and wiring behind a data center: how power gets from the grid into the building, how chilled water loops carry heat away from racks, and why redundancy is baked into everything from switchgear to cooling towers. It's the kind of technical literacy that's usually locked up in engineering firms, and it's worth watching if you want to understand why these buildings are built the way they are.

But here's what a mechanical-systems explainer won't tell you: every megawatt of cooling and every redundant chiller loop in that diagram is a megawatt and a gallon count that shows up somewhere on a local utility bill or a municipal water allocation. The 'reliability' the video praises — N+1 power paths, backup generators, chilled water reserves — is exactly what makes these facilities such heavy, permanent draws on the grids and watersheds they sit on top of. Understanding the HVAC diagram is step one; asking who approved the interconnection and the water permit is step two.
