GRASS LAKE CHARTER TOWNSHIP
APPROVED WORK SESSION SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES
July 27, 2026
Meeting called to order by Supervisor Lesinski at 8:04 a.m.
Board Members Present: Bray, Loveland, Harris, Wyant, and Lesinski. Absent – Rentfrow and
Bednarski-Lynch. Also present: Zoning Administrator Campbell and Zoning Enforcement
Officer Bisard
Discussion Topics
1. Short-Term Rentals – Ongoing concerns regarding short-term rental properties throughout the
Township were discussed. The Township Attorney has been consulted regarding weddings and other
large events held at rental properties, and draft ordinance language addressing these events is expected
in the near future. The Board discussed potential approaches for addressing complaints, including the
formation of a committee to review and respond to issues related to short-term rentals. Additional
discussion included the possibility of establishing a cap on the number of short-term rentals, either
within specific areas or Township-wide. Bray will explore the formation of the committee, and Lesinski
will review ordinances from other townships for comparison and potential recommendations.
2. Data Center Ordinance – The Planning Commission prepared a draft Data Center Ordinance at its
previous meeting. The Township Planner will incorporate the Commission's comments and revisions
with the goal of presenting a finalized draft for consideration at the next Planning Commission meeting.
3. Township Building – The Board discussed the need for additional space, noting that the current
Township building is no longer adequate to accommodate both Township offices and the Senior Center.
A list of facility needs and desired improvements was requested for future planning purposes. The
possibility of leasing Township-owned property on Sarossy Lake Road to the Senior Center was discussed
to facilitate the construction of a new community center using grant funding. It was further discussed
that the Senior Center would be asked to relocate to a new facility within approximately 18 months.
Motion by Wyant to adjourn the meeting at 9:32 a.m. Supported by Bray. Motion carried.
Respectfully submitted,
Gail Harris, Clerk
