An open house was held at Tech with the Montana Department of Environmental Quality to
answer questions about the Data Center
Red Carpet Tour Coming in May
6 total RFI’s (requests for information from the Montana Department of Commerce) were
responded to in the past two months.
Sabey Data Center Visit: My responses: Seeing the facilities (not just Sabey) for myself, at night,
has reinforced my take, and that of the BLDC board, that the data center will be good for Butte.
The data center was extremely quiet and the lighting was dim. Hearing protection is not needed
inside the center. We measured less than 80 DBA in the server rooms and near the exterior
running equipment. Community members are very pleased with what the data centers (not just
Sabey) have done for their town, like new infrastructure in the community as well as jobs, taxes
and Community engagement and support. Beautifully landscaped and well-kept grounds.

World Trade and Investment Day will be held May 12 at Montana Tech
Sioux Falls, S.D./Butte MT. – March 31, 2026-Northwestern Corporation, a regulated energy
service company operating in Montana and subsidiary of NorthWestern energy Group, Inc.,
doing business as Northwestern Energy, filed an application with the Montana Public Service
Commission requesting approval of a Large New Load Tariff rule to establish requirements and
contract terms for providing electric service to bundled customers with new or expanded loads of
5 megawatts or greater, including data centers and other energy-intensive operations.
