Stalled Production Growth Supports Higher Price Risk
Natural gas production growth is stalling, reinforcing a bullish outlook for prices.
Producers face higher labor, material, equipment, and well devetopment costs,
making it harder to expand supply at lower price levels. For end users, the forward
market still offers an opportunity to hedge below the level many producers say is
needed to support sustained growth. Natural gas and electricity buyers should
recognize that gas is likely to remain the marginal generation fuel for years, keeping
it central to power price risk.

Substantial Increase in Electricity Demand Forecasted

The expansion of data centers is leading to a significant increase in electricity
demand, which will put a strain on power grids and resources. This heightened
demand is likely to result in higher electricity prices. Consequently, businesses will
face increased operational costs due to these rising electricity prices.

Natural Gas Demand Set to Surge Over the Next Four Years

Natural gas demand is expected to grow a lot over the next four years because of
more gas used to make electricity and more LNG exports. Electricity demand is rising
from data centers, electric vehicles, and the need for reliable power, which makes
natural gas a key fuel. At the same time, new LNG export plants will send more U.S.
gas overseas, Together, these changes will push total gas demand much higher and
keep the market tighter for years to come.
