XIII. COMMISSIONERS CONCERNS
Commissioner Johnson: Special thanks to the crew that helped
at Fuller Park, they really busted their butts. When good people
come together, we do great things.
Commissioner Williams:
Echoed what was said about our
maintenance crew, our Parks Manager, and our camp host at OB Fuller,
and although it is quite sad to see the devastation, its incredible
that no one was injured. Thank you to everyone that did the hard
work that needed to be done.
Commissioner van Ginhoven:
OPIOID Taskforce is currently
accepting applications for the upcoming fiscal year for up to $30,000
each, the grant application is on our website, deltacountymi.gov.
5
Approved 8-4-26
Mini-grants are also always available, that application is on our
website, also. The paving of the runways at the Airport is at the
end stages. We will be putting out requests for proposals for the
painting of the plane.
The Central Upper Peninsula Materials
Management Commission, led by Ryan Carig of CUPPAD, is in the end
stages of the materials management plan for recycling. Thank you to
the Parks and Rec Department crews, our maintenance department and
our camp host for the work they did to open the roads up so fast at
Fuller Park.
Commissioner Jensen: Thank you for those that came out at
830 to 11:00 p.m., under several storm warnings. Special shout out
to the camp host – that was way above and beyond what you expect of
the camp host, made sure everyone was okay and accounted for. The
Fair held their annual emergency meeting. Last year was the first
year that they had a written emergency plan, identified areas that
we thought we could better and how to actually fix those this year.
The VA is having an enrollment fair for the ladies at the Northern
Lights YMCA.
Commissioner Malnar:
Echo everything that the others
commissioners said, it seems that our county employees, anytime there
is any kind of an emergency or need for somebody to get help, our
employees really come through and shine. I was in New Orleans this
week for a National Association of Counties conference. There were
3,000 - 4,000 County Commissioners from all 50 states. I will have
a better report – we just got back at 1:30 this afternoon.
